The Magical World of Cartimar

Let me take you to a faraway place called Cartimar. Although asian-sounding, is not a kingdom found in the Middle East. Neither does it belong to the plains of Bombay, or the deserts of Africa.

It is found in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Of course, some may already be familiar with it and the treasures (explicit and forbidden) that it contains, but to the uninitiated, Cartimar is a shopping center reminiscent of the times when Henry Sy just started selling footwear alone in ShoeMart. Today, the place boasts of items at rock-bottom prices, from shoes to bikes to plants, and best of all – animals.

(Noah would run inside his ark and blush at the sights, sounds, and smells.)

The animal area features at least three rows of shops selling pets from the usual goldfish, hamster, and lovebird… to the much sought marine fish and invertebrates… to the exotic and illegal Myna bird that talks. I even saw a Peacock and a bright blue Macaw.

I went there just this afternoon (darn, didn’t study again) to buy a new cage for my hamsters. What I did was give to our trusted caretaker my original breeding pair, five of their seven pups, and their old cage. I simply couldn’t afford to raise all of them, and the breeding pair (my original pets) would probably keep on producing offspring even after I have given away the current litter.

I just decided to keep two male pups and raise them in their brand new cage that cost only 40% of the price of a very similar, if not exact model found in the malls. What a bargain! (Interested parties may place their orders with me… hehe.)

Well, I hope that the “family” will find their new owner to be fine with them. Am also wishing these two kiddos that I kept good health. Hope they’ll adjust well to being on their own away from their parents.

NEVER BUY PETS FROM CARTIMAR bought my Pomeranian from there we only had her for 3 weeks, why? Because apparently when we got her she had distemper which is a viral illness from dogs. We didn’t even get to enjoy her. All dogs in CARTIMAR are sick I AM WARNING YOU

Thanks for the warning. I guess it always pays to be careful with pet purchases – Cartimar or elsewhere.

Depends on the store. Best to ask around and canvass first before buying at any particular store. 🙂
